Uno's Waldorf 1st Annual Karaoke Challenge
Fundraiser-Contest to benefit the Waldorf VFD, EMS, and Auxiliary
Great News! We finally have a winner for the 1st Annual Uno's Waldorf Karaoke Challenge Fundraiser-Contest to benefit the Waldorf VFD, EMS and Auxiliary. We had a great competition and our finals were very exciting! The weather was absolutely perfect and there was standing room only.
The grand prize winner is
~ Stacey Smith ~
who received an expenses paid trip to the 2009 American Idol Tryouts! She raised over $250.00 herself and she has a fantastic voice to boot. Runners up were Sarah and Ray, both regulars at Uno's. They received gift cards as prizes. I would like to thank everyone for their support in this worthy effort and in my book, everyone who participated was a Winner!

Again, it looks like mother nature has screwed up another edition and the final for our karaoke fundraiser contest at Uno's for the Waldorf VFD, EMS, and Auxilary. Unless, it clears up and WARMS up, we will cancel tonight 9/26 and the finals will be held on Friday October 3rd. Here are the standings going into the finals:

Remember, because of the way the fundraiser/contest is structured, no one is a shoo-in because everyone, (even those NOT in the top 10) will have a chance to get 150 point from the judges in the last week - so practice and we'll see you on the 3rd.
To all who have entered - Remember to ask friends, family and co-workers to sponsor you with votes, which are only $1.00 each (and are tax deductible!). Bring this money with you any Friday you come to sing and it will be added to your point totals! And don't forget to bring your friends to support you.

Special note of September 30th
I was just contacted by the Waldorf Auxiliary and informed that the viewing and funeral for Emergency Medical Technician Tonya Michelle Mallard who was killed in the tragic crash of Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 2, early this past Sunday morning, will be held this Friday and Saturday. Since so many members of the VFD, EMS, and Auxiliary will be attending the services, etc. and moreover, allow them the proper time to deal with their grief, etc., the finals for the contest will be canceled until the following week, October 10th.

This tragedy underscores why we have come together to help raise funds for our local heroes who at any time, may be called to make the ultimate sacrifice when helping others they may not even know.
